July 10 Nets or Nuts Golf

Fifty-two out today!

Weldon Steele - played here last week and split the points with Kamloops!

Play at Kamloops this week and hope to take all the points!

Logan Lake Seniors this Friday - good luck to our entrants!

Long Putt Winner on hole 12 was Rick Baker!

KP on 12 was Norm Romano!

As you can see Norm likes to get his ball close to the hole!

Deuces today were plenty!

Del Macready, Rick Bolten, Linda Angstadt, and the Vanishing Point!

Winner of the meal this week was Wayne Kobyashi.

Winner of the $25 Gift Certificate was Bob Peace.

Senior Token of the week was given to the fast aging Brett Martin!

Brett was in winning form on and off the course as you can see!

Thanks for coming out and joining in the fun Brett!

A gentle reminder from Brett and the Pro Shop

- please use only two carts per foursome!

The hot weather and cart traffic kills the grass
especially the sidelines
- keep the carts on the fairways
and well away from the greens pretty please!

Brett was out showing us how not to ride the carts!

A hat and visor with a Calgary Flames clip was lost last week

- please turn it in if you find it!

Donations to the Men's 2 Ball best ball tourney on August 28
are gratefully accepted
- thanks to Angus Gouthro for bringing in a wheelbarrow load today!

Now to the winners? of today's confused net scoring
- like if it was par 3 you used one net score and if it was a par 4
you used two net scores and on the par 5's you used either 3
or 4 net scores depending on the handicap score of the hole!
Go figure - but it was really really really fun!

 Yeah that much fun!

In First Place despite their incomptence stumbled this group of Norm Whiffle, Al Mad Dog, Mark and Old what's her face! They some how managed to win and that shows you the general calibre of play hereabouts -
Norm was talking with his dear wife the other night and sent along this typical exchange!
Thanks Norm - you are our kind of husband!

In second place was the fine trio of Gerry Treseira, Tave Dandy and Corvette Bob. They allowed Doug Rutledge to join them cause none of his group would join him - shows how generous and considerate we are as a group! Tave said that actually she thought they played like the following group!

 C what I mean!

Third place was taken by Rick, Paul, Jack and Linda.

Linda said this was what the golf was like today though!

Fourth place was the team of Marc Guertin, Marianne, Terry Haines and the MOC.

The guys really had Marianne doing trick shots today!

The team of Mr. Cool, Bev, Ed and Dave were in fifth place - despite the desperate practicing that Dave Bacon puts in on his home turf!

I mean when Dave plays around at home he really does!

Sixth place finishers were the team of Rick, Don, Marsha and Bruce - we got a shot of Don Ingram in his really fine form days he's third from the right in this photo! Nice going Donnie!

You'll also see that he had hair in those days as well!
He He He!

We awarded this clunky (except for Laurel!) foursome
7th place simply
because the main man at the pro shop
insisted on adding 38 years to his age
so he could qualify as a senior!
Wayne Kobyashi, Brett (Mountain) Martin, the ever Divine Laurel and old Gouthro!

Laurel got a shot of Brett out on the course  and he was awesome! So was she - man women can sure change their hair colour in a hurry - nice form Laurel!

Stumbling around the course as usual was this foursome of Dave (Rider) Hay, Don Pooch, John Dumont and Sylvia Gobbi.

Dave was up to his usual fine form on the course today - apparently he didn't injure himself too badly on this shot!

The strong arm of the law is in evidence in this foursome of Jack Angst, Heather (she is shouting in agony cause a mean old cop UKNOW WHO just grabbed her leg to make her smile!),  Myles the good Mountie, and Ken.

Just to show you that not all ex Mounties are mean we got a shot of Myles when he was in training - nice posture Myles!

Another foursome that sort of wandered out and around and all over the course without much effect was this group of Ken (Shades) Rollier, Barry and Louie putting the squeeze on any good looking babe he can get his meat hooks on which happened to be Del Macready today!
We were sent in this picture of Louie when he was a youngster and quite decent apparently - how times change! Now he uses a walker on the course!

Peter Frew, Pat Faisthuber, Charley Molloy and Flavio Facchin were out and about today as well. Pat sent me in a shot of a typical day at her house - Louie keeps practicing no matter what!
Louie of course insists that he do all the housework at his house apparently - NO???

John French, Freddie Freeloader and Sandra and Frank Bava also graced the course today - funny but Sandra says that mostly when she looked the guys were sort of finding this kind of form after their shots!
 Nice form guys!

Now just to prove that golf is mostly a downhill slide we have this foursome of Shakey Walton, Gerry Campbell, Marilyn Peterson and Ley McMillan - Marilyn was in fine form today and the guys sent in the following picture to prove that Marilyn takes the downhill slide of golf really easy! Nice form Marilyn!

CU next week at 8:00 AM or so ready to face whatever challenges the Golf Gods decide they are going to inflict on us this time!

June 19 Results of 2 Low Net Golf Team Action

Deuce Pot Winners ($3) today were:
Jerry Campbell
Ken Robertson
Art Harms

Door Prize Winners today:

Rob Egan took home the Eaglewood Restaurant Entree!

Art Harms won the Chinook Cove Golf Pass

Laurel Gouthro won the Sleeve of Balls

And Laurel was the Senior Token of the Week winner with a scintillating 110!

The Game today was 2 Low Net.

We had 24 crazy golfers show up to tempt their fate in the monsoon!
Yup that's what it was like!

Matching this peerless motocross rider were these two groups:

In Last place with no money to their credit was the very wet group of Linda Angstadt, Marc Guertin, Dave Hampton and Pat Faisthuber!

I mean really what do these people think they are playing at?

Also out of the money (again!?) was Ian Campbell, Dennis Fitzmaurice, Mark Nadler and Don Ingram.

As you can see they were hung out to dry!

Now we advance to the 4th place ?Winners?

Dwight Oatway, Rob Egan, Terry Noftall, and Larry Sill.

As you can see they were having difficulty navigating the course
and asked this young lady to help them get home into 4th Place
 - my God - they had two 10 Caps
and a 13 Cap and they still couldn't compete!???? He He He

Larry said he needed to get home and so he offered the young lady a lift
and left early!

Oh and Rob Egan owes Larry $7!

Now we move up the ladder of competency and into Third spot!

Laurel Gouthro, Gerry Campbell, Del Macready
and all three of these needed to drag
old Dumont around the course.

I mean they really dragged Dumont around the course
- nice ears John!

As you can see Laurel and Del were rather bemused
by John's get up on and off the course!

Finishing in Second Spot this week was the awesome foursome of :

Art Harms, John French, Ed Blundell and Angus Gouthro!

This sort of sums up their round of golf doncha think?

Moving right along to the top of the charts was
this inspiring, erudite and quite handsome group
of golfers:
Don Puhach, Ken Robertson, Jim MacCormack,
and Jack Angstadt.

They were number one with a bullet thanks to Angstadt! Smooth swing big guy!

As you can see we dazzled the course today!

Tee time is back to 8:30 AM next week!

Please be in the house by 8:15AM!

Our Senior Mens 2 Ball tournament is August 28.
If you happen to have any good quality golf equipment,
clubs, wedges, putters, vouchers from the pro shop
or the restaurant that you would like to give as
a door prize please bring them along to the organizers
at any of our sessions and hand them over
- thanks!

CU on the course before we walk over you!

June 12 Results of 3 - 2 - 1 Golf!

Sixty-two out today - weather was perfect!

Door prizes today were won by:
Ken Robertson  - Eaglewood Restaurant certificate!

Rivershore voucher for 18 - Mel Cassidy
(who went home early to babysit grandkids!)

Sleeve of balls was won by Carol Fitzmaurice.

Token of the week was awarded to Gordie Craik
for getting his arthritic bones up and out
and on the course this morning!

NEXT WEEK IS AN 8:00 AM Start!

Some housekeeping requests:

Please try to only have two powercarts per foursome
- the Pro Shop would like to keep the amount of traffic
on the course to a minimum!
Check around and consolidate carts before heading out on the course please!

Please give your email addresses to Ken Robertson
so you can read the news?
and find out who is being maligned this week!

Wheldon Steel Rivershore matchup from last Thursday!

We managed to win one point two weeks ago from Rivershore
thanks to Norm Romano and Peter Frew!
This past week Norm and Peter took both the front and back nines
and took three points. Marc Guertin allowed Ken Robertson
to ride home on his coattails and we swept Rivershore
for all 6 points so we won the cumulative by 7 - 5!

We have managed to build the club by doing team play
and everyone tossing their names in the hat
and being drawn each week in a random draw!
Unless you have a powerful reason
(friend visiting from out of town etc.)
we would like everyone to continue
with the social tradition
of just tossing their individual names
in the hat
and going out with whoever
they have been drawn with!
IF a couple wants to stay together
we will try to pair up the couples. OK?

The Player Assistant advised that a few openings started to grow between some of our foursomes and has asked if we can remind each other to "speed up the play".

We encourage Ready Golf and Ready Putting
 - if you are ready - putt
and unless you are really away from the hole
continue your putting to the hole and don't mark every putt please!

When leaving the hole please walk quickly off
and jump on your cart
and put your putter or clubs away at the next tee box!
Thanks - these simple procedures can cumulatively take 20 minutes
or more off a round of golf!

Deuce Pot Winners this week were:
John St. Louis, Gerry Campbell, Ken Robertson,
Marc Guertin, Barry Gray and Ian Campbell.

In first place this week with a net 119 was the team
of Flavio Facchin, Laurel Gouthro,
John St. Louis and Ken Robertson.

This was sort of how they managed the round of golf today! Very carefully!

Second place was taken by Gerry Tresiera, Fern Gosselin,
Angus Gouthro, and Brian Rattray.

Nothing was going to keep Angus from trying to catch up to Laurel!

Now that's what we call concentration!

Third spot was taken by the team of Doug Rutledge, Mark Nadler,
Tave Dandy, and Louie Faisthuber!

Louie was still bragging about how he was so good
at work when he was a youngster
and we got another shot of him in action!

Two teams managed the proverbial kiss their sister routine for Fourth spot this week!
Jorgen Sveistrup, Frank Bava, Diane Mayo and Myles Hanke with 124

tied up with the threesome of Ley McMillan, Lorraine Zimmer and Marc Guertin!

As you can see Marc and Ley were ready to whoop it up with Lorraine!

Another two groups tied for 5th Spot with 125
- Dennis and Carol Fitzmaurice were with
Mel Cassidy and his wife
(they left early to babysit grandkids!)

Truth be known our ever present cameraman caught Mel being taken home!

Then Al Jakel, Del Macready, Gerry Campbell and Norm Romano pulled it together to tie for 5th as well!

Apparently just when they thought they had the game in the bag
some other dang thing would come along and ruin it!

In 6th Spot this week was this fine? team of John Pizarczyk,
Brian Dennis, Anita Romano and Terry Haynes.

Anita said it was just one of those restless rounds of golf!

The following groups were out and about on the course
- their purpose was sort of aimless but they had fun!

Bruce Betker, Dana Skoberg, Audrey Faulkner,
and Sandra Bava.
The Gorilla was clutching Pat Faisthuber
and Paul Sharp went along for the ride too!

Ian Campbell was so humbled by the day's action
he left early and Freddie Freeloader
and Myrtle Cadogan were left to take the blame.

Jim McCormack, Rob Egan, Don Puhach
and Bev McIntosh also hit the greens
- apparently too often!

Ken Rollier (hey watch my shades newsie!), John French, Heather Heron were on hand to help Phil Walls wander around the course.

Also around and about the course to no apparent purpose were Shirley Wiklund, Art Harms, Dave Assmus and Barry Gray!

Also wandering around punching holes in the sod and wondering when the Playoffs start were Sylvia Gobbi, Gene Mehr, Don Ingram and some fine lady who I got the name of but promptly forgot when I moved to the next table!
Sorry about that!

Last but not least cause any of the above could have been last too was the team of : unknown - dang someone email me her name!, Barry and Gordie Craik! He at least won the token of the week for ineptitude I think! He He He

Probably most of these groups could be summed up by this short shot!

Next week as there is a tournament the Pro Shop has asked us to start it up at 8:00 AM!
Please register with Don Puhach and Ken Robertson by  7:45 AM!

The game will be two Low Nets!  CU on the course!
