August 8th Results - Low Net 3-2-1

There were 56 hardy souls out to face the bright sunshine
 - and actually the weather sort of almost thunderstormed
and was over cast till noon so it wasn't too bloody hot!

2 Man Best Ball Tournament at Eaglepoint on August 29 - get a partner and get at it!

$55 bucks for a great tournament
with lots of prizes and all that stuff!

Larry and Dave and Al and Ley
deserve a big round of applause
for doing the regular weekly stuff
and keeping us organized
- Like herding cats according to Dave!
- so thanks guys!

Even when we're all bitching about
what the heck you got us organized
into now
we are enjoying it!

I am sure that this is sort of how the
Gods of Golf at Eaglepoint determine
what we are going to play each week!

First in their minds this week was the fine team of Ley MacMillan,
Jack Angstad, Marilyn Peterson
and the ever divine Laurel Gouthro!
Man they were mixing it up when they left the clubhouse!

Second spot this week was claimed by
Heather Heron, Larry Sill,
Steve Walton and Bruce Betker.
Well done gang!
You should take better care of Heather
when she is trying real hard though!

That Heather goes for the gusto with every shot!
Witness this!
Maybe that's what a gal does
when she's married to Dave for 50 years!???

In third spot but first in our hearts was the team of
Carol and Dennis Fitzmaurice
 - (they celebrated 29 years of togetherness
- the first nine were just for fun
and the last 20 were heavenly bliss!)
Joining them was the fine team of Tave Dandy
and some old guy who keeps running around
to be on winning teams!
Terry Haines are his initials!

You can see that even coming in third
makes their hearts beat as one!

4th spot was claimed by
"She Who Must Be Obeyed" Wiklund,
Tony the Tank Destroyer,
Rick (Take care of your back buddy!) Baker
and Some old duffer who wandered in off the driving range
and they took pity on him and carried him along Puhach!!!!

For a 4th place team they were sort of
gangstering it up at the end!
Gloria and John Dumont along with Don Ingraham
carried along a heavy sandbagger!
Ludwig Faisthuber!
Ludwig convinced Gloria that a plunge in the pool
would be a great deal of fun and away they went!
Nice form Louie!
6th Spot was the fine team of Lincoln Cadogan,
Dave Haymeister, and Bruce White.

Bruce wanted to celebrate
with a quick triumphant scooter ride!
Just like he golfs! He He He
7th Spot was taken by the fine? team of
Erwin Nyfeler, John French,
Gerry Tresiera and Linda Angstad.
Typically Linda had to carry the guys the whole round
and even after!
Linda said she didn't mind the heavy load
but the verbal abuse was kind of getting to her!

8th and final place was taken by the old tag team of
Paul Sharp, Don Ozubko,
Ken MacCormack, and Don Pennell?

They sort of relaxed after the round
 - taking it easy guys?

Here we come to the list of the non-golfers out today:
- this team of Myrtle Cadogan, Vic Feere, Jorgen Viking
and Les Golfland had some near misses
on the course today
 - as you can see!
I think they said it was Les who was the quick dodger here!
Nice work Les!

A true rose surrounded by three thorns
- Audrey Nielsen, Dwight Oatway, Phil Wells
and you can sure tell he's Danish
- just can't tell him very much - Ben Nielsen!
Ben said he was going to be generous to Audrey
 after the match
and sent along a picture to show
what a great guy he is!
Thanks Ben!

Another group of malcontents and misfits were out performing on the course today!
Charlie Molloy, Ian Jacques, Doug Pockett and Les Ekstrom.
For the after party they got all dolled up
- Ian put on his Mohawk wig and Keds
and Charlie liked the pink handbag!
Les and Doug said guys gotta get new shoes
 - nice outfits people!

Their 4th ran off but Gerry Campbell,
Fred Hamarlund and Anita ripped the course up!

Too bad they ripped their bag of cheezies up too!
No use crying over a tough loss!

Pat Faisthuber ( Ludwig's long suffering better half!)
 Al Jakel,
Fern Gosselin and Angus Gouthro were out
ripping up the course!

As you can see from the following picture
Angus took the loss hard!

Finally a truly underwhelming performance by
Russ Stewart, Ken Robertson,
Norm (Don't tell Louie I can't putt, chip or drive!
Promise me!? Sure Norm!)

and Linda Olaksew played tiddly winks
or some other endeavour
out on the course today
- definitely not golf
- though Norm loves teeing up for the driving range on #10

They smarmed around the bar afterwards as if they had something to smarm about!

There were a number of Douches today!

Four douchebags performed and here they are in no particular order of merit
cause deuces are just a matter of bloody luck after all!
Dennis Fitzmaurice
(he bloody took the KP on number 4 too!),

Ian Jacques, Terry Haines and Vic Feere!

Winners of meals at Eaglewood this week were:

Marilyn Peterson (don't tell Marv!)

and the champion sandbagger
of all Austria and Canada
Ludwig Faisthuber!
Luckbag!

For nicely parking his ball out of bounds
on Number 5 and Number 10
and missing about 2 out of every 4 putts today
the big putz Norm Romano won
the Senior Token of the week!

Louie phone him up and tell him
to get out there and work it baby!
Otherwise see if you can draft someone else in
for the 2 Man Best Ball!

If you see any obvious errors, omissions, falsifications
or outrageous expansions of the truth please let me know
cause I like a good laugh too!

August 1 Ugly Ball Results

We played Ugly Ball today!
Each team had an ugly ball and they were butt ugly!
Scoring was the low net of the ugly ball
and all players had to use the ball at least 4 times!
and the next best low net! Then total the results!

First we had to announce that Marilyn Peterson had a great 65th birthday!

Congrats Marilyn! OAS and CPP were paying out handsomely!

There were 44 people out today!

The new Practice green and chipping area is now open - bunkers will be added this fall!
Use it or lose it!

August 29 - our Club's 2 Man Best Ball tournament!
get a grip on a partner and get on out there!

John and Gloria Dumont celebrated 45 years of happy marriage!

John was asked how he did it and he said, " On our 25th Anniversary
I took Gloria to Paris and we saw all the sights highs and lows
- the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe
and the Moulin Rouge and so on! It was great!"
So the question was asked, "John what are you doing for your 45th?"

John thought a moment or two and then replied, " Oh I think I might go back and get her now!"

The KP today was won by Ed Velestuk
who stuck the sucker 69 inches from the marker!
Nice carry Ed!

John French won 18 holes at Rivershore!

Steve Walton won 18 holes at Shuswap Lakes Estate!

Eaglewood Restaurant meals were won by:
Ken Robertson - richly deserved I might add!
And that old sandbagger Ludwig Faisthuber!

Senior Token of the week went to Don Puhach
- why? I don't know but he needs the practice!

There were three deuces today - Myrtle Cadogan who with her usual fine form potted one and
the other two were secured by that dubious almost retired ex-RCMP Dog Handler Ian Jacques!

There were 11 groups of 4 out there and only 8 groups were able to secure a return on their investment!
Ian Jacques, Jim MacCormack, Dave Hampton and Myrtle swept the board with a net 129!
They know how to go for the money and this is pretty typical of their weekly activities!

Doug Rutledge, Bruce White and Anita? were out there and came in tied for 3rd along with John Campbell who left for home before the prizes were given!
As you can see Anita said the guys were a heavy load to carry today!
Also tied for third was the fine? team of "wake me when its over!" Cadogan, Laurel Gouthro, Gerry Tresiera and Brian Motormouth!
At the after win celebrations old Whitehead was keeping cool and Laurel was just hanging around!

Lamentably because of the "sandbagger" curse that this group carried they came in tied for 6th! Norm Romano (I'm getting married in the morning?), Marilyn Peterson, Ley MacMillan and Barry Gray.
Apparently Marilyn held up her end of the partying afterwards! Marv would be so happy!

Also tied for 6th was this sort of accidental group of Ed Velestuk, Jorgen Sveistrup, Ken Robertson and Art Harms!

As you can see Jorgen can occasionally display some fancy footwork on the course!

Also tied for 6th was this sort of latecomer group of Heather Heron, Dave Hay, Al Jakel and Tave Dandy!
This sort of gives you the reason why Heather, Tave
and company were a little late for start up on the course today!
In a tie for 8th place was this group of John French, Don Ingraham, Pat and the old Sandbagger himself Ludwig Faisthuber! The photo doesn't quite show that Ludwig had a firm grip on Pat's beer!
Pat sort of dressed down for the after party but Ludwig said he needed the ear rings to really perform!

Also in a tie for 8th was the group of Dennis, Rena and John Lucianoff? and Sharon who refused to give her last name cause she said the following picture of her and Rena on the course would reveal more than they wished to deliver!
Of course we leave that to your judgement!
Bruce Betker, Charlie Molloy , Larry Sill and Don Puhach had a great day chasing the spoon around!

John St. Louis, John Dumont, Paul Sharp and Shirley (I rules the roost here you guys!) Wiklund were seen around the course but apparently all over it too!
Shirley was sort of shy and retiring at the after party celebration!

Phil Wells, Gerry Campbell, Steve Walton and Angus Gouthro were happy to contribute to the  coffers of the winners after all they sort of hung around the course most of the day!

And at the end of the day they sort of posted themselves as finished!

See you next week and if Heather and Tave can get their makeup on before 8:30AM then they will be on the course on time! Maybe! CU then!
