October 17 Results for 3-2-1

25 Hardy or foolhardy? souls were out today
- a cool 5 degree start

but it warmed up in the sunshine and no wind so a beautiful day!

Door Prizes of Eaglewood Restaurant Vouchers were won
by Del Macready and Bill Brown

Deuces were won by Terry Haines and Audrey Faulkner.

Tied for first with net scores of 122 were the fine teams of:
Terry Haines (who shot his age 78!), Al Jakel (Who should be shot!)
and Shirley Wiklund (who shot an 85! Almost her age!)

As you can see Shirley kept the big guys in check! Way to flaunt it Shirley!

Don Ingram, Ken Robertson
(Ley was helping point out that
this meant we won $11 each?)
and Ley McMillan managed
 to marshal their wherewithal
and pulled in at 122 also!

Obviously these guys know how to take care of business on
 and off the course!

Then this sort of sad sack group came in whining at Third!

I mean come on
- load up the team with the Senior Women's Champ
and she has to carry you guys
the whole game
-take it away Lincoln!
Oh and Gerry Campbell and Dave Assmus.
As you can see they were up and at it but couldn't somehow put the finishing touches on their game!

Dragging in like what's in the cat's litter box was this foursome of:

Vic "Have No" Feere, Bill Sailor, Pat Salsa and Paul Hindle.
Hey and this is how they played too!

Then we come to the whiz bangs WTF"s
 and Howinh***! gangs.

In no particular order of merit or otherwise
we had these "performers"
out on the field today
- well somebody has to fill
the pockets of the Weiners!?
Right?
Dave Hay, Grace Brown and some old duffer
who didn't want
his picture taken but we know who you are
John Dumont
were out there
- should of stayed doing what they do best apparently -
 this picture tells it all!

Nice hair Grace! And actually it looks like Dave had some once too?!
He He He

Also apparently crashing and burning on the course was this foursome!
Dave Bringing Home the -----, Don Ozubko, Marilyn Peterson and Paul Sharp.
Marilyn apparently was quite insouciant (for lack of a better term!)
today and the guys thought she sort of played like this!
Hey well if you got it why not show it - Right!
But if you had to golf with these guys wouldn't you hide behind a cucumber or two also?
See what I mean!

Finally we had this group out - why - apparently they couldn't figure it out either!
Anita Romano, Jim McCormack, Wayne Ferguson and Audrey Faulkner.
As you can see Audrey felt pretty bad about her game today and had to console herself by getting floored.

Reminder the Goat Track is on Saturday October 27
- get out there
- it's well subscribed this year and take it from this old goat
- have a fun time!
$20 for club members!

Finally the Seniors' Championship Results

Well it took a while!

I was away and it took a while to get

the photograph of our Senior Mens
and Senior Ladies Champions!

Ta Da! Here they are!

Del Macready was the Ladies Champ this year! Congratulations cousin!

Some old duffer was in the picture with her

- his initials are Terry Noftall.
How a Herring Choker gets in on the act
I don't know!
Hey but somebody got a shot of Del in full swing!
She might not be able to see the ball
but man she hits it!

Then lo and behold - thanks to the

modern internet this short clip of Noftall
showing he's all show and no work
-  in came this one of him practicing
before his round! I almost take back
every bad word and thought I ever had
about Herring Chokers after seeing this clip!
You gotta believe it!

Man what style and notice his hair only turned white after this shot! Amazing ain't it!

On a lighter note Pat Faisthuber and

Don Ozubko thought these jokes might
be worth passing on - so I did!

From Pat comes this one about golfing and out of bounds and proper propriety in dealing with non-golfers!

A golfer hits his ball into a yard next to the golf course. As he goes to

get it, a man in the yard says, "Don't you see the sign? It says, 'Private property - Stay Out!'"

The golfer says, "I'm sorry I did not see it. That is my ball there. May
I have it, please?"

The man says, "It's in my yard and so it's my ball now."

The golfer looks at the man and says, "I understand."

He then walks back to the golf cart, gets another golf ball, then walks
back and throws it into the yard.

The man says, "What is that for?"

The golfer replies, "I consider myself a gentleman, and I believe every
prick should have two balls."

And Don Ozubko thought this was a real money maker!

A little old lady was walking down the street dragging two large plastic garbage bags behind her. One of the bags was ripped and every once in a while a $20 fell out onto the sidewalk. Noticing this, a policeman stopped her, and said,"Ma'am, there are $20 bills falling out of that bag."

"Oh, really? Darn it!" said the little old lady. "I'd better go back and see if I can find them. Thanks for telling me officer."

"Well, now, not so fast," said the cop. Where did you get all that money? You didn't steal it, did you?"

"Oh, no, no", said the old lady. "You see, my back yard is right next to a Golf course. A lot of Golfers come and pee through a knot hole in my fence, right into my flower garden. It used to really tick me off. Kills the flowers, youknow!. Then I thought, 'why not make the best of it? So, now, I stand behind the fence by the knot hole, real quiet, with my hedge clippers. Every time some guy sticks his thing through my fence, I surprise him, grab hold of it and say, 'O.K., buddy! Give me $20, or off it comes.'

"Well, that seems only fair," said the cop, laughing. "OK. Good luck! Oh, by the way, what's in the other bag?"

" Not everybody pays."

And on that happy note I remind everybody that
Golf tomorrow Wednesday October 17 will
start at 10:00 AM frost permitting! CU there!

Senior golf still rules!

We may not have this guy's challenge but we aren't starting till

October 3 Results

It was a cold start today - but 30 intrepid souls braved the cool
and played Las Vegas Golf!
You all drive your balls and then roll a die to see whose ball
is going to be played and then scramble to the hole!

As you can see there was a lot of scrambling around the course today!

Paul Sharp was awarded the Senior Token of the week
as he was the only Aberdonian to appear out on the course today!
The other wusses from Aberdeen and Whitehead and White you know who you are
were too chicken to brave the cool start!

Door prizes of free Eaglewood Restaurant Entrees
were picked up by Laurel Gouthro and Pat Faisthuber!

As I didn't have my camera today I managed to go through the files
and picked up some pictures for the winners!

In First Place this week was the dynamic? team of Ludwig Faisthuber,
Pat Faisthuber (the long suffering partner of Louie!) Paul
and Dennis Fitzmaurice!
In second place was the fine??!! TEAM of Lorraine Zimmer and Heather Heron
(Heather complained I hadn't got any good pictures of her lately
so I went to Dave and he sent in this fine pair for me - you be the judge! He HE He)
who were teamed up with Marc Guertin and Paul his old buddy from Nova Scotia
( I didn't think Herring Chokers knew anything about golf but apparently they do!)

Marc and Paul were dressed for the event today!

Third  spot was the popular team of Angus Gouthro, Don Ingram, Laurel Gouthro,
and Shirley Wiklund - Angus chose not to appear in this rather decadent shot
but Ingram said he was all in and who wouldn't be with Shirley and Laurel
flexing their wares for the camera!
Tied for fourth this week was the threesome of Dave Assmus, Les Swaine and Erwin Nyfeler! Amazing how a little alcohol unhinges these lads!

Tied for fourth was the rather heavyweight group of Jack Mathews (he's in the blue tights with the sword) and his three heavyweight partners from left to right in the front row - Paul, Brian Dennis and John Dumont who was hanging his head in shame as usual!

Others were out puttering about and this writer observed some strange doings today

- John Campbell was in great form - as you can see

and Larry Sill had a really fun time on his approaches today! HE HE HE
Dave Hay was just content to let it ride baby!

That's it this week and we will be teeing it up Wednesdays
at 9:00 AM or as soon as frost permits till the course closes!

September 12 Results

Forty-two players were out today
- a cool start but it warmed up nicely!

Deuces or Douchebags whatever today were:
Bruce Graves, Fred Hamarlund, and Myrtle Cadogan!
I mean how come all this money for a simple plunge in the water?

Door prizes today were:
Gerry Tresiera and Paul Sharp received Eaglewood Restaurant entrees!

Latin lover, Flavio Facchin took home an 18 hole pass to Talking Rock!

Domino Pizzas were won by Doug Rutledge,
Marilyn Peterson (Marv will be happy!),
Fred Hamarlund, Don Puhach and Lorraine Zimmer!

First place in the 1-2-3 Net Format today were
Bruce Betker, Ken Rollier, and Don Puhach!
Here's a good shot of Rollier in action today!

Second place was taken by the fine? team of Old what's his face,
Norm newly-wed, Audrey money bags, and Paul Four Letter Friend Getter Sharp!

As you can see Audrey was too busy counting her money to pay attention.

In Third place was the "fine?" team of Bruce Graves,
Mark Nadler, and Lincoln Cadogan.
Bruce had to head home early but apparently
they ruled the woods and rough today - as you can see!
Tied for 3rd was the trio of Al (Mad Dog) Jakel,
Dave ( Yes I am happy organizing this mess do you want to do it?!!!) Hay
and the Danish pastry Jorgen Sveistrup.
Apparently Jorgen carried the team today!
Personally I always thought they sort of golfed like this well known trio!

In 5th spot today was the team of Heather Heron, Dave Hampton,
Les Swaine and  Gerry Tresiera.
Swaine was in fine form and even sent in a short video
of  his performance today! Thanks Les?!
I think!
The boys at Golfland probably understand your technique!

6th Spot was awarded on a technicality to Fred Marsh,
Brian Whitehead, Lorraine Zimmer and Laurel Gouthro.
Fred was too embarassed to stick around but not Whitehead
- he of course had to go all uptown and do the  grip and show em routine!
Some other teams were out here today, Angus, Vic, Lois, and Marc
They were kind of out of the running but had fun!
 Well maybe they did?
They looked a little strained coming into the clubhouse!

This fine foursome were happy to eat
- though Campbell resorted to eating Robertson's lunch!
Flavio, Terry, Ken and Ian!

It was an all round messy round for them!

Also scrambling around the course was the Fab Foursome
of Fred Hamarlund, Shakey Walton, 88 Dumont
and Marilyn Peterson.
Marilyn of course kept the boys amused on the course
by showing off her new parlour tricks!

 Nice move Marilyn!
Shirley, Jack, Bruce and Ron (Old Sobersides we call him!)
were out and about
- as you can see Shirley doesn't like to lose
and decided to fix the judge's car!
 All by herself!

Myrtle, Don, and Tave were also rans today
- They dressed sharp but the results were wanting!

Hey nice deely bobbers though!

Now drum roll please
- the Eaglepoint Wednesday Seniors' Club Championship
is scheduled for next Wednesday!

You must have played at least 3 Wednesdays this year to qualify for entry!
It will be a Senior Men's and Senior Women's Championship!
9:00 AM Shotgun
Teams will be formed and random draw as usual
but the format will allow for normal stroke play scoring
so Low Gross and Low Nets
in the Divisions (?) will be scored!

As you can see Al Jakel has been
busy getting ready for the big event!

Hey - this writer will be in Edmonton
so if someone can take pictures of the throng
and give me a run down of who did what and to whom
and how often it would be much appreciated!
