April 29 Weldon Steele Results against Spallumacheen

Larry Sill, Dave Hay, Ken Robertson and Don Puhach managed to struggle against the elements more successfully than the gang from Spallumacheen and we managed to win both of the front and back nines so we collected 6 points this week and 9 out of 12 overall.

Mind you Don Puhach had to drag Robertson around the course!

We played against some good guys whose names I sort of remember!

Kirk Peters and Don ? as well as:

Jim Urquhart and Gordon? Hey I'm a senior and I forget!

It is good fun and you get a chance
to play Logan Lake, Revelstoke, Royal York and so forth!
Sign up downstairs
- represent the club and make at least some new friends!
Then you might have one!

April 28 - Texas Scramble results - And in case you are wondering - Audrey and Shirley failed to show up again!

Twenty-five braved the elements today!
This team did nothing except shoot Par! Ferne Gosselin, Rick Baker, Ken Robertson and Don Puhach.
Did they win? You guessed it - Nada! Not a thing! There were apparently some "greasy teams" out on the links today! And here they are!

Low Gross winners of the Texas scramble with a 62 were

Keith Larson?, Don (Clear the track!) Ozubko and Larry Sill!
Yes we know it was Keith Larson but could he putt?
Then we got a phone call from a gal and she said she has it on best authority from personal experience that he missed a putt and she even sent in this picture to prove it!

She said that she stood by the green and Keith looked her straight in the eye and then he leaned over and he missed this putt!

I knew you would find that hard to believe!

Second Low Gross were the team of:
Dave (The Bear!) Barker, Frank ( Yes and I'm damn cultured too!) Barrett, John ( I didn't slice that one did I?) French and wandering in from the great unknown was Ray (Hey! I'm only here to win!) Hellmen!

They took their winnings and apparently celebrated or something?

Third Low Gross was the team of  John (Big!) Campbell, Gordie (I'm just a plain old romantic old fox!) Craik, Terry (Hurricane) Haines and not to be outdone Barb Kenyon showed them up!

Barb said that she had the right stuff to keep up with this gang and even presented us a picture to prove she had the right stuff!

As you can see there is no arguing with Barb!

Now the tale gets really greasy!
First in the Low Net group with an amazing 48 were Mark (Gee I really did hit a good shot didn't I!?) Nadler, Jumping Jack Matthews and Arlene Sahlstrom who kept these guys in Line!

After the game, Arlene said that she had to share an observation with me and I include it only for your future edification!

Now we know why Pooch steps lively around when Arlene shows up!
Second Low Net were the team of Angus (Did I really hit it that far and it's only my second year of golf etc etc etc ) Gouthro, his far better half, Laurel and dragging up the rear was John Dumont!

John is apparently looking for a new cart and shared his conception of what he is looking for!

Last but not least in the Low Net competition were the foursome of:
Gloria Tewnion, Rob Egan, Flavio Facchin and Charles Molloy.
They retired after the match and did the usual thing!

Keep on shovelling Gloria and don't miss a spot!
Winner of the Seniors Token of the Week because she had to carry three wimps was Ferne Gosselin.
It's a tough life!

See you next week and stay tuned for the update!

April 21 Teams that came into lunch

We had a great turn out and thanks to Dave Hay, Al Jakel and Larry Sill for taking the money and doing the scoring and keeping us organized!

Gloria, Barb and Judy were partnered with Fred Persello but we couldn't get the thorn to sit with the roses!

Larry, Rob, Frank and Fred were out in force.

Flavio, Ken, Don and Mark sort of chased balls around but didn't accomplish much as usual.

Gloria Dumont, Laurel , Al , and Don managed to hold it together for the 18!

As usual when you put two retired civil servants in a group they count 4 and end up with 5. Sitting as usual were Earl and Rick. Hard pressed to put up with it were Dan, Warren and John.

Last but certainly not least were Arlene, Jack, Gordie and Ferne!

Then after the last comes the least! Angus - hey did you see that putt of 50 yards from off the green I made fame! - and Dave and Dave and Dumont pleading for a chance to win something!

Good turn out all around
- see ya next week!

April 21 - there was no Audrey Faulkner nor Shirley Wiklund in sight!

Weather was great today and we had a good turnout!
Good to see the ladies out in force!

Returning to the fold was that old reprobate Gordie Craik! And as he was such a good golfer and had such a high score he got the Token of the week for the driving range! Almost shot his age! 104! He had a hard time on the landings apparently!

The Ladies were out in force and it was great to see them! Three of them got to golf with Fred Persello and he so impressed them he left the course immediately after the game!
Low gross winner was Ferne Gosselin!

She went home very happy!
  Gloria Dumont

and Gloria Tewnion came first and second in Low Nets for the ladies!

Men's 17+ handicap Low Gross was taken by
Fearless Fred Hamarlund and John French - Fred was given the money to split and took off before John could catch him!

Low net was posted by (hard to believe this one!) Jumping Jack Matthews! A cool net 71! Poor Fred Persello had to settle for second low net but then his golf game was thoroughly critiqued by his partners! Wouldn't you go home early too?

Grand Poobah Low Gross Winner at 80 in the 0 - 16 Handicap flight was   Dave Assmus!

Dave has a great ability to relax after winning!

Jealously following Dave with Low Nets in the 0 - 16 flight were:

Rick Baker and Frank Barrrett! I blew up Frank's picture from a copy I got at the local post office where there are free pictures of a list called MOST WANTED! Why anyone would want him is beyond me!
They relished their victories and one of them lead the other them out on a short victory? stroll! You figure them out!

Scraping the bottom of the barrel or what we call the DEUCE POT winners were:

John Dumont and                                              Larry Sill.
They make a great pair don't they?

Larry asked the group as to how they were enjoying the "mix and match" teams and groups each week and essentially everyone voted to have draws for teams or foursomes every week! Newcomers particularly like the format as it mixes them in with the old has beens and they feel right at home! Three ladies were drawn in one group and they raised a mild point of order and suggested - without complaining - that they didn't want to golf together again. Well we know and you know who you are so we won't let it happen until next time! ( Her initials are BK though!)

April 14 - these are the teams that supported all the winners this week!

Holly Simpson had to contend with Dave (Crash and Burn!) Hay, Don (Who wrecked my train?) Ozubko and her lesser half, Cec (Yes and I'm damn charming too!) Simpson.

As you can see Dave was back riding this spring, Don Ozubko just had to revisit one of his more traumatic work experiences, and Holly wanted to show her picture of Cec and she after their first couple of days together! But they couldn't squeeze out a win today!

Flavio Facchin , Dave Barker and Judy Cross had a rough ride today!
A call to 911 was no help to them!

Another group of wannabe golfers were backed up to the bar as they couldn't add enough 3s and 4s together to make 50+. They took their licking like the men they are! Dave Hampton, Jack Matthews and Ian McAndrew! Chug back one for us guys!

A trip to the bar was in order for them!

Last and least were this dynamic trio - as you can see they seemed to think that they had their problem solved!

Apparently Al Jakel had trouble sinking some putts and John French was prepared to urge him on! Larry could care less as it was his opinion that Al was short in one department or another as this following photo attests!
This lady apparently had the measure of him!

See you next week - 9:00 AM  - everybody appreciated the mix up and team play! Thanks to Dave, Larry and Al for working at keeping us all happy!
