Weldon Steele Seniors Home and Away Competition
Seniors (55 plus!) are needed to represent our club in our zone play against the others (Spullamacheen, Revelstoke, Shuswap Estates, Rivershore, Salmon Arm and so on. 4 Members play handicap match play against 4 from the other club - it is a great and inexpensive way to play other clubs and meet some great people. We pay for their lunch and one drink at our club and they do the same at their club! Usually green fees are $20!

April 7 - It was cold and Shirley Wicklund didn't golf with us!
Man the wind blew and it was cold today! My knees had goosebumps on the knee bumps!
Some of those who have been avoiding the cooler weather starts were with us today and first up was Ian Mc (Prince) Andrew and the canny Scot was tight with his first hard earned $20! But he paid!
McAndrew was out there in all his glory but too bad the wind was blowing!
Jorgen Sveistrup was also out on the links! He won??? the Senior's Token of the week on the driving range. He managed to hit both the 200 yard posts on #'s 3 and 8. As a result his hard luck partners in crime, Rob Egan and Al Jakel both finished out of the money! Tough to play your second shot back of where you started!
Jorgen always carries the right tools to work and play!
WINNERS of the whole Enchilada this week were:
Ken (Shorts in this weather are you out of your mind!) Robertson,
Jack (Ken's oldest but least intelligent sibling!) Robertson,
Jack (I'm just trying a new swing!) Matthews and Len (For God's sake somebody do something right on this hole) Kelly! They managed a sterling Net 47.8 (Can you imagine when this was announced someone shouted out "Greasy!")
Try to ignore Jim Mitchell in the background as he wasn't in the money! HE! He! He!
The celebration was something special!
Second Place with a Net 50.5 were Dave Barker (He shouted Greasy! I am sure!), Angus and Laurel Gouthro as well as Flavio Facchin!
Apparently this group takes losing hard and Barker was last seen admiring his socks and shoes from about 1000 feet up just before they pushed him over the edge!
Gives a certain meaning to "don't miss this one Dave!"
Coming in Tied for Third with Net 51.5's were the threesome of
Ian McAndrew, Terry Haines, and Cec Simpson. (I think they got their handicap by having to drag Simpson along!)

As you can see these three enjoy life and all its pitfalls but don't go hot tubbing with them!
The other group that managed to lie their way to fame and fortune were Gloria Tewnion, Murray Moffat, and the charming Judy Cross and old what's his name!

Apparently their shots were awesome!
There were another group of golfers who showed up today!
Holly Simpson with some guy!
The team of Simpson, Campbell, Faulkner, and French were out on the course but it is tough carrying those two guys around all day - right ladies!?
As you can see the brains trust was in operation and apparently our money was in good hands but don't ask who the biker is in the following picture!
Poor Al Jakel - he works with the handicapped!
Last and least on the course were the dynamic trio of Egan, Sveistrup and Hay.
Wisely Egan and Sveistrup chose to sit separately!
Don Ozubko and Jim Mitchell (well almost!) managed to avoid the camera this week!
See you next week and remember Tiger's mantra! Lay Lady Lay!

March 31 Winners and then there was John Dumont!
Laurel Gouthro was lighting it up! She shot a hole in one - well it was a net hole in one but hey it was a great start to 1-2-3 team play!
What is 1-2-3 team play? On the first hole you record the lowest net score of a team player- on hole 2 you record the two lowest net scores and then on the third hole you record the 3 lowest net scores and then start the cycle over again!
Winners of the team play were:
Ken (Hey shorts are great to wear in below zero play!) Robertson, Jorgen (The Melancholy Dane!), John

( Did you see the slice on that one?) French and the three of them hit and hacked the course while they dragged Ian (I'm still working and paying for you guys retirement!) Campbell around!
Ozubko had to leave early but Dumont and Skoberg hung around!Dana and Barry Hill are old hogheads like Ozubko!

Rick (Wasn't that a pretty shot?) Baker and Rob (Just grip it and rip it!) Egan were partnered with Murray Moffat - sorry about that Murray!
Al Jakel, Silly Larry, Dave (Crash and burn! ) Hay teamed up with Cooper's specialist Dan Crawford. Larry decided that the warm friendliness of his foursome didn't sit well so he teamed up with the ladies!
Audrey and Gloria were awfully tired after carrying Larry around all day! They were complaining about sore shoulders andShirley even had to leave early for a spa treatment after dragging Sill around the course!

Nice tutus guys! They managed to score a NET 123!
Roaring along behind them was the foursome of John Dumont, Don Ozubko, Dana Skoberg, and Barry Hill.
This is how Robertson, French, Sveistrup and Campbell felt when they saw Dana golfing - he shot a net 73! But they managed to hold on for the one shot victory!Les Ekstrom, Doug (There's a hole in my!) Pockett and Bill Holland scrambled around the course and came in third!
Judy Cross, Laurel Gouthro were up to the challenge and they managed to drag their lesser halves around the course though they both claimed it was hard work! They came in 4th!
As you can see the ladies had their work cut out for them in getting Angus and Warren around the park!Winner of the weekly token for the driving range was Audrey! She had a great day getting in and out of most of the traps on the course!
Dana Skoberg and Ian Campbell were the two deuce hitters this week! They looked extremely happy with their results!

Rick (Wasn't that a pretty shot?) Baker and Rob (Just grip it and rip it!) Egan were partnered with Murray Moffat - sorry about that Murray!

Thanks for coming out ladies and sorry about the albatross we strung around your necks!
From left to right these were the three fine and self confessed dang intelligent ladies who put up with Silly Larry for the round! Thanks Gloria, Audrey and Shirley!

Jorgen Sveistrup sent me a joke that I couldn't get to publish! So I also had another one from him and here it is!
Hotel Bill
Next time you think your hotel bill is too high, you might want to consider this: My wife and I are travelling by car from Victoria to Prince George. After almost eleven hours on the road, we were too tired to continue, and decide to take a room. But, we only planned to sleep for four hours and then get back on the road. When we checked out four hours later, the desk clerk hands us a bill for $350.00.
I explode and demand to know why the charge is so high.I tell the clerk although it's a nice hotel; the rooms certainly aren't worth $350.00 Then the clerk tells me that $350 is the 'standard rate'. I insisted on speaking to the Manager.
The Manager appears, listens to me, and then explains that the hotel has an Olympic-sized pool and a huge conference centre that were available for us to use.'But we didn't use them.''Well, they are here, and you could have,' explains the Manager.
He goes on to explain we could also have taken in one of the shows for which the hotel is famous. 'We have the best entertainers from New York, Hollywood, and Las Vegas perform here,' the Manager says.
'But we didn't go to any of those shows,' .'Well, we have them, and you could have,' the Manager replies.
No matter what amenity the Manager mentions, I reply,'But we didn't use it!'
The Manager is unmoved, and eventually I gave up and agreed to pay.
I write a Cheque and give it to the Manager.
The Manager is surprised when he looks at the Cheque. 'But sir,' 'this Cheque is only made out for $50.00.''That's correct, as I charged you $300.00 for sleeping with my wife.'
'But I didn't!' exclaims the Manager.
'Well, too bad, she was here, and you could have.'

These were the tough ones on the course on March 24!
We had 20 players out! Some wussies showed up later but it was apparently too cold for them to start with us!
Judy and some old guy Cross were there along with the charming Laurel Gouthro and that old crank of hers that claims he has only golfed one year! (Angus!)
Rick Baker, Al (I have the money in hand!) Jaekel, Larry (Yeah I got a deuce too!) Sill and Dave (Crash!) Hay were there too!
Doug (I've got a hole in my!) Pockett and Kirk Galbraith were so bad their partners in crime went home early!
Jorgen Smith (Oh maybe it's Sveistrup!), John French, Ken (Hey somebody had to wear shorts!) Robertson and Don (Man was that a wreck!) Ozubko managed to wander around the course and found their way to the bar unaided!
Dave (The Bear!) Barker was there though John (Could you imagine having to feed this guy?) Campbell was starting to doze off and Dave Henry said hey there is always another week!
Weiners from March 24 golfing!
Our first day out and we got off to a great start at 9:00 AM. No frost hold up!
Al Jaekel, Dave Hay, Larry Sill were good enough to coordinate and take in the prize money and the Zone 2 Seniors Cards and collect a $1 for the Seniors Fund.
Thanks gentlemen!
WEINERS

First Flight: John ( how do you keep the fridge full with this guy!) Campbell with a gross 78!

Gross First: Angus (And it's only my second year of playing!) Gouthro,
and Second was Rick (Now wasn't that a great shot?) Baker.
We won!?
Second Flight Low Nets went to Warren Cross's better half, Judy Cross and to Jorgen Sveistrup!
As you can see Jorgen was really dressed for the occasion!

As you can see Jorgen was really dressed for the occasion!
Two golfers managed to convince the rest that they got Deuces!
Angus (Now remember I have only golfed one whole year!) Gouthro
and Dave (Crash and burn!) Hay.
Seniors golf welcomed Judy Cross and Laurel Gouthro. They were only bothered by the Tiger Shark on number 15!
Bring out your wives and/or girlfriends
but not on the same day dummy!
We will be golfing on Wednesdays at 9:00 AM until the weather is good enough to start earlier!

A Joke to start the Year!
Correct Pythagorean Theorem
Two Indian Chiefs are consoling each other about
their unmarried Daughters.
The first Chief says:
"I cannot find wives for my two daughters,
who are sitting over there -
one on a bear skin and the other on a buffalo skin."
The second Chief replies:
"I have the same problem!
No one will married my daughter,
she is sitting over here on a hippopotamus skin."
The first Chief asks
"Why don't we trade daughters,
then they may find husbands in their new tribe?"
The second chief enthusiastically agrees
.Which goes to prove that....
.The squaw on the Hippopotamus Hide is equal to the sum
of the squaws on the Other Two Hides
The golfing world is celebrating a new invention
The golfing world is celebrating a new invention
that promises to revolutionize the sport
. The new device is called the "bee nut."
It is a fastening attachment that allows players to adjust the
heads on their clubs to any angle
, thus saving the need to carry a bagful of clubs.
Thus, for example,
players can use the same club to putt as they used to get out of the sand trap.
Golf clubs with this modification are selling quickly,
and players everywhere are taking golfing picnics,
so they can try their new......"bee-nut putter sand-wedge."Saturday, March 20, 2010
