April 21 Teams that came into lunch

We had a great turn out and thanks to Dave Hay, Al Jakel and Larry Sill for taking the money and doing the scoring and keeping us organized!

Gloria, Barb and Judy were partnered with Fred Persello but we couldn't get the thorn to sit with the roses!

Larry, Rob, Frank and Fred were out in force.

Flavio, Ken, Don and Mark sort of chased balls around but didn't accomplish much as usual.

Gloria Dumont, Laurel , Al , and Don managed to hold it together for the 18!

As usual when you put two retired civil servants in a group they count 4 and end up with 5. Sitting as usual were Earl and Rick. Hard pressed to put up with it were Dan, Warren and John.

Last but certainly not least were Arlene, Jack, Gordie and Ferne!

Then after the last comes the least! Angus - hey did you see that putt of 50 yards from off the green I made fame! - and Dave and Dave and Dumont pleading for a chance to win something!

Good turn out all around
- see ya next week!

April 21 - there was no Audrey Faulkner nor Shirley Wiklund in sight!

Weather was great today and we had a good turnout!
Good to see the ladies out in force!

Returning to the fold was that old reprobate Gordie Craik! And as he was such a good golfer and had such a high score he got the Token of the week for the driving range! Almost shot his age! 104! He had a hard time on the landings apparently!

The Ladies were out in force and it was great to see them! Three of them got to golf with Fred Persello and he so impressed them he left the course immediately after the game!
Low gross winner was Ferne Gosselin!

She went home very happy!
  Gloria Dumont

and Gloria Tewnion came first and second in Low Nets for the ladies!

Men's 17+ handicap Low Gross was taken by
Fearless Fred Hamarlund and John French - Fred was given the money to split and took off before John could catch him!

Low net was posted by (hard to believe this one!) Jumping Jack Matthews! A cool net 71! Poor Fred Persello had to settle for second low net but then his golf game was thoroughly critiqued by his partners! Wouldn't you go home early too?

Grand Poobah Low Gross Winner at 80 in the 0 - 16 Handicap flight was   Dave Assmus!

Dave has a great ability to relax after winning!

Jealously following Dave with Low Nets in the 0 - 16 flight were:

Rick Baker and Frank Barrrett! I blew up Frank's picture from a copy I got at the local post office where there are free pictures of a list called MOST WANTED! Why anyone would want him is beyond me!
They relished their victories and one of them lead the other them out on a short victory? stroll! You figure them out!

Scraping the bottom of the barrel or what we call the DEUCE POT winners were:

John Dumont and                                              Larry Sill.
They make a great pair don't they?

Larry asked the group as to how they were enjoying the "mix and match" teams and groups each week and essentially everyone voted to have draws for teams or foursomes every week! Newcomers particularly like the format as it mixes them in with the old has beens and they feel right at home! Three ladies were drawn in one group and they raised a mild point of order and suggested - without complaining - that they didn't want to golf together again. Well we know and you know who you are so we won't let it happen until next time! ( Her initials are BK though!)

April 14 - these are the teams that supported all the winners this week!

Holly Simpson had to contend with Dave (Crash and Burn!) Hay, Don (Who wrecked my train?) Ozubko and her lesser half, Cec (Yes and I'm damn charming too!) Simpson.

As you can see Dave was back riding this spring, Don Ozubko just had to revisit one of his more traumatic work experiences, and Holly wanted to show her picture of Cec and she after their first couple of days together! But they couldn't squeeze out a win today!

Flavio Facchin , Dave Barker and Judy Cross had a rough ride today!
A call to 911 was no help to them!

Another group of wannabe golfers were backed up to the bar as they couldn't add enough 3s and 4s together to make 50+. They took their licking like the men they are! Dave Hampton, Jack Matthews and Ian McAndrew! Chug back one for us guys!

A trip to the bar was in order for them!

Last and least were this dynamic trio - as you can see they seemed to think that they had their problem solved!

Apparently Al Jakel had trouble sinking some putts and John French was prepared to urge him on! Larry could care less as it was his opinion that Al was short in one department or another as this following photo attests!
This lady apparently had the measure of him!

See you next week - 9:00 AM  - everybody appreciated the mix up and team play! Thanks to Dave, Larry and Al for working at keeping us all happy!

April 14 - Shirley Wiklund and Audrey Faulkner did not golf again!

We had a great turn out of 33 for our mixed up team Stableford golfing system that Dave Hay managed to dream up over some cool drinks on the weekend.
As long as yours truly won then it doesn't matter what else happened - John Campbell refused to have his picture taken cause he was sulking over my high handicap again!( I think he thinks even with my high handicap I should lose more regularly or something! Novel concept!) More on this later! He! He! He!

I did manage to track down a picture of John from last year's games and found that he has a very Bhuddist approach to life!
WEINERS THIS WEEK ACCORDING TO THE STABLEFORD APPROACH WERE:
Brian Canfield, Laurel Gouthro, Dorothy Pickering and Jorgen (The Melancholy Dane) Sveistrup. By adding scores twice they managed to eke out an enormous score of 58 - watching Jorgen take his shoes and socks off twice to count that high was fun enough for the rest of us!
Apparently the trip home by the group was a great success!

Because we are a compassionate, sympathetic and well meaning crew, Larry (Yes I know I am wrong, but I still get to spend your money anyways!) Sill decided that the three other teams that cheated and lied their way to success would be treated equally and we all took in 2nd place chump money!

Warren Cross

                                                                                                               And Rob Egan

And Big Daddy Ron Hamilton dragged along an unsuspecting Frank Barrett (whose picture is obtainable free of charge at any Canada Post outlet for godsake!)

Apparently they took the game pretty seriously! They came in tied for second alongside of: John Dumont, Don Puhach, Gloria Tewnion, and Fern Gosselin.

Gloria chose to not have her picture taken with this group but who can blame her! John Dumont  had a better idea and told me on the quiet that this is the ideal team picture that he is looking for!

Personally in looking at the size of the mouth of this sucker I think John was in this team picture too!

Tied for 2nd and continuing his hot high handicap winner takes all approach to Senior's golf as well as John Campbell's perpetual complaint about dang high handicaps the team of yours truly, Ken (Yeah I wore shorts again!) Robertson, Rick (Have any of you seen my ball?) Baker, Dave (Sizzler) Assmus, and old you know who - Angus (I've only been golfing a couple of years mind you! as he smacks another 250 yarder right down the middle!) Gouthro.

They gleefully took their ill gotten gains and ran to the bar!

Deuces were won by the following six players in no particular order of merit: Dorothy Pickering, Jorgen Sveistrup, Rick Baker, Frank Barrett, Rob Egan and Dave Hampton. And when you see the guys names you can see why there was no merit! Sorry Dorothy! He! He! He!

As you can see with these low lifers it doesn't take much to get them up and dancing!

Finally we had our winner of Senior of the Week - Gloria Tewnion was apparently almost not so awesome at moments and she won the driving range token! Takes a great picture though! He! He! He!
And so there are the results of April 14.
Weldon Steele this coming week at Spallumacheen! Sign up downstairs and we encourage everyone to play one of these matches - we need high handicappers to step up to the plate too!
