April 4, 2012 - Cold and windy - just like the women we dated in high school!

34 wonderfully stupid people showed up to golf today
- 9:30 start
- was it cold?

Yes it was cold!

As you can see the usual suspects of
Ley MacMillan, Dave Hay and Al (Mad Dog!) Jakel
were in charge so we had the usual Texas Scramble
 which I never win
- which is of course why they played it!

Some how they manage to take our money
 - make the rules
 - order us into pliable groups and send us out
into the misery each week!
Thanks a lot guys!

Oh and of course they managed to come 3rd today
Their par player who was absent was the best of the bunch!

Dave Hay managed to stand up and be recognized
- he thanked us all for coming out
- does he know a gullible audience or what!?
 - anyway Dave had to do something
so he announced the following upcoming events and rules.

First - no gimmes under any circumstances if anyone is watching!

Second, Weldon Steele sign up sheets are downstairs in the hallway
and we play against Merritt, Logan Lake (May 3rd so wear your ski clothes!)
as well as Kamloops and Rivershore this year
 - sign up and if you are lucky
and/or contribute to the Dave Hay super retirement fund you will be chosen to play!

Third, the new handicap system is in
and it is really very simple
- follow the directions at the scoring computer
or ask someone who looks intelligent
- but no one pictured on this blog!

Fourth, we are hosting a Seniors Tournament for
Zone 2 on June 16
- it will be run co-currently with the Zone 2 Seniors tournament
to be held here for those wishing to qualify for the
BC Seniors' Championship this summer in Nanaimo.
If you want to play here and not go for the Zone then you pay $65
if you want to toss your name into the ring
with the big boys then pay $95 - could be a fun day!

This was our qualifying group for the Zone Last year!

Dave also thanked Eaglepoint for the fine sandwich, salad, and soup luncheon
they put on for $10
- with a glass of beer!
Thanks Ian and staff!

Now to the real results - someone won some money - not me!

In 5th place today was the fabulous almost winners of Norm Romano? W
TF how did he qualify - is he old enough?
Doesn't he work - did he ever work?
Questions of a serious nature need to be pursued here!
As well the old monkey wrencher, Don Ingram
- or to you Mr. Woodwork!
and adding some class to the group was Mrs Fishkiller, Audrey Faulkner
- though it was tough to add any class to a group that contained Terry Haines
- he went home early cause his mommy made him!

They chowed down happily and as Donnie says
- he's been chowing down real good lately!

Don sent in a recent picture of him in full bore eating action to prove it!

In 4th place because they let Louie score was the vibrant team of:

Dave Asmus, Pat Faisthuber, Barry Hill and Louie Faisthuber
- Louie said it was his love that kept him warm!

Coming in 2nd was the fine team of :

The old train wrecker (Don Ozubko and my back feels really really good!),
Bev McIntosh, Mark (yes I learned to hit the ball really really good this winter!) Nadler
and some old biker they pulled in off the road (AKA Brian Whitehead!)

As you can see Bev had a rough time on the course
but made it with a lot of help from the guys!

Finally in First place was the ?Awesome? team of John and Gloria Dumont,
Angus and Laurel Gouthro!
They shot a net 48!

Somehow they managed to golf as partners and got away with it!

Sort of makes you suspicious don't it?

These other groups were on the course but mostly off it!

Robertson, Campbell, Teere and Hindle sort of bottom fed all day!
They all agreed however that with a Net 60 they had to do better
and the TOKEN OF THE WEEK was given to Vic so he could practice his driving!

Just ahead of them in the standings were these other groups of whiffs and zips
and never wuzzes!
In no particular order but to save them from eternal embarassment
and public humiliation here they is! At the top with his eyes closed like he golfs - Ken  - ably supported by Shirley , Keith and Pooch.

Then comes Charlie, Tave, Lincoln and Doug followed or sort of herded along was Ed, Rick and Erwin who says that he was shanghaied!

They all sort of played like this today!

So get your acts together
- put on your snuggies and get ready to rip it up again next week
same time and hopefully a different game and set of partners!
