April 14 - Shirley Wiklund and Audrey Faulkner did not golf again!

We had a great turn out of 33 for our mixed up team Stableford golfing system that Dave Hay managed to dream up over some cool drinks on the weekend.
As long as yours truly won then it doesn't matter what else happened - John Campbell refused to have his picture taken cause he was sulking over my high handicap again!( I think he thinks even with my high handicap I should lose more regularly or something! Novel concept!) More on this later! He! He! He!

I did manage to track down a picture of John from last year's games and found that he has a very Bhuddist approach to life!
WEINERS THIS WEEK ACCORDING TO THE STABLEFORD APPROACH WERE:
Brian Canfield, Laurel Gouthro, Dorothy Pickering and Jorgen (The Melancholy Dane) Sveistrup. By adding scores twice they managed to eke out an enormous score of 58 - watching Jorgen take his shoes and socks off twice to count that high was fun enough for the rest of us!
Apparently the trip home by the group was a great success!

Because we are a compassionate, sympathetic and well meaning crew, Larry (Yes I know I am wrong, but I still get to spend your money anyways!) Sill decided that the three other teams that cheated and lied their way to success would be treated equally and we all took in 2nd place chump money!

Warren Cross

                                                                                                               And Rob Egan

And Big Daddy Ron Hamilton dragged along an unsuspecting Frank Barrett (whose picture is obtainable free of charge at any Canada Post outlet for godsake!)

Apparently they took the game pretty seriously! They came in tied for second alongside of: John Dumont, Don Puhach, Gloria Tewnion, and Fern Gosselin.

Gloria chose to not have her picture taken with this group but who can blame her! John Dumont  had a better idea and told me on the quiet that this is the ideal team picture that he is looking for!

Personally in looking at the size of the mouth of this sucker I think John was in this team picture too!

Tied for 2nd and continuing his hot high handicap winner takes all approach to Senior's golf as well as John Campbell's perpetual complaint about dang high handicaps the team of yours truly, Ken (Yeah I wore shorts again!) Robertson, Rick (Have any of you seen my ball?) Baker, Dave (Sizzler) Assmus, and old you know who - Angus (I've only been golfing a couple of years mind you! as he smacks another 250 yarder right down the middle!) Gouthro.

They gleefully took their ill gotten gains and ran to the bar!

Deuces were won by the following six players in no particular order of merit: Dorothy Pickering, Jorgen Sveistrup, Rick Baker, Frank Barrett, Rob Egan and Dave Hampton. And when you see the guys names you can see why there was no merit! Sorry Dorothy! He! He! He!

As you can see with these low lifers it doesn't take much to get them up and dancing!

Finally we had our winner of Senior of the Week - Gloria Tewnion was apparently almost not so awesome at moments and she won the driving range token! Takes a great picture though! He! He! He!
And so there are the results of April 14.
Weldon Steele this coming week at Spallumacheen! Sign up downstairs and we encourage everyone to play one of these matches - we need high handicappers to step up to the plate too!

April 7 - It was cold and Shirley Wicklund didn't golf with us!

Man the wind blew and it was cold today! My knees had goosebumps on the knee bumps!

Some of those who have been avoiding the cooler weather starts were with us today and first up was Ian Mc (Prince) Andrew and the canny Scot was tight with his first hard earned $20! But he paid!

McAndrew was out there in all his glory but too bad the wind was blowing!

Jorgen Sveistrup was also out on the links! He won??? the Senior's Token of the week on the driving range. He managed to hit both the 200 yard posts on #'s 3 and 8. As a result his hard luck partners in crime, Rob Egan and Al Jakel both finished out of the money! Tough to play your second shot back of where you started!

Jorgen always carries the right tools to work and play!

WINNERS of the whole Enchilada this week were:
Ken (Shorts in this weather are you out of your mind!) Robertson,
Jack (Ken's oldest but least intelligent sibling!) Robertson,
Jack (I'm just trying a new swing!) Matthews and Len (For God's sake somebody do something right on this hole) Kelly! They managed a sterling Net 47.8 (Can you imagine when this was announced someone shouted out "Greasy!")
Try to ignore Jim Mitchell in the background as he wasn't in the money! HE! He! He!

 The celebration was something special!

Second Place with a Net 50.5 were Dave Barker (He shouted Greasy! I am sure!), Angus and Laurel Gouthro as well as Flavio Facchin!

Apparently this group takes losing hard and Barker was last seen admiring his socks and shoes from about 1000 feet up just before they pushed him over the edge!

Gives a certain meaning to "don't miss this one Dave!"

Coming in Tied for Third with Net 51.5's were the threesome of
Ian McAndrew, Terry Haines, and Cec Simpson. (I think they got their handicap by having to drag Simpson along!)

As you can see these three enjoy life and all its pitfalls but don't go hot tubbing with them!

The other group that managed to  lie their way to fame and fortune were Gloria Tewnion, Murray Moffat, and the charming Judy Cross and old what's his name!

Apparently their shots were awesome!

There were another group of golfers who showed up today!
 Holly Simpson with some guy!

The team of Simpson, Campbell, Faulkner, and French were out on the course but it is tough carrying those two guys around all day - right ladies!?

As you can see the brains trust was in operation and apparently our money was in good hands but don't ask who the biker is in the following picture!

Poor Al Jakel - he works with the handicapped!

Last and least on the course were the dynamic trio of Egan, Sveistrup and Hay.
Wisely Egan and Sveistrup chose to sit separately!
Don Ozubko and Jim Mitchell (well almost!) managed to avoid the camera this week!
See you next week and remember Tiger's mantra! Lay Lady Lay!

March 31 Winners and then there was John Dumont!

Laurel Gouthro was lighting it up! She shot a hole in one - well it was a net hole in one but hey it was a great start to 1-2-3 team play!

What is 1-2-3 team play? On the first hole you record the lowest net score of a team player- on hole 2 you record the two lowest net scores and then on the third hole you record the 3 lowest net scores and then start the cycle over again!

Winners of the team play were:
Ken (Hey shorts are great to wear in below zero play!) Robertson, Jorgen (The Melancholy Dane!), John
( Did you see the slice on that one?) French and the three of them hit and hacked the course while they dragged Ian (I'm still working and paying for you guys retirement!) Campbell around!
Nice tutus guys! They managed to score a NET 123!

Roaring along behind them was the foursome of John Dumont, Don Ozubko, Dana Skoberg, and Barry Hill.
This is how Robertson, French, Sveistrup and Campbell felt when they saw Dana golfing - he shot a net 73! But they managed to hold on for the one shot victory!

Ozubko had to leave early but Dumont and  Skoberg hung around!Dana and Barry Hill are old hogheads like Ozubko!

Les Ekstrom, Doug (There's a hole in my!) Pockett and Bill Holland scrambled around the course and came in third!

Judy Cross, Laurel Gouthro were up to the challenge and they managed to drag their lesser halves around the course though they both claimed it was hard work! They came in 4th!
As you can see the ladies had their work cut out for them in getting Angus and Warren around the park!
Winner of the weekly token for the driving range was Audrey! She had a great day getting in and out of most of the traps on the course!

Dana Skoberg and Ian Campbell were the two deuce hitters this week! They looked extremely happy with their results!

Rick (Wasn't that a pretty shot?) Baker and Rob (Just grip it and rip it!) Egan were partnered with Murray Moffat - sorry about that Murray!
Al Jakel, Silly Larry, Dave (Crash and burn! ) Hay teamed up with Cooper's specialist Dan Crawford. Larry decided that the warm friendliness of his foursome didn't sit well so he teamed up with the ladies!
Audrey and Gloria were awfully tired after carrying Larry around all day! They were complaining about sore shoulders andShirley even had to leave early for a spa treatment after dragging Sill around the course!
Thanks for coming out ladies and sorry about the albatross we strung around your necks!
From left to right these were the three fine and self confessed dang intelligent ladies who put up with Silly Larry for the round! Thanks Gloria, Audrey and Shirley!
