May 1 Las Vegas Golf Results

You know the story - everyone tees off then a die is rolled
and either you get lucky and get a 5 or 6
so you can choose the best ball hit
or as usually happens you roll the number of the player
who shanked or duffed his/her shot!
Ain't that the way it works?

Did for our group.

Fifty-four seasoned golfers out today! Great turn out
and cool at the start but warmed up nicely!

Weldon Steele update -

You get the picture?
Spallumacheen kicked our keesters!

Still looking for some good guys to sign up for Weldon Steele so please see Ley McMillan!

Door Prizes this week :

Sleeves of balls to these guys and gals:
Charley Molloy, Steve Walton, Ken Rollier, and Audrey Faulkner.

Token of the week was given out to Lincoln Cadogan,
Arlene Sahlstrom and Barry Gray - they need the practice apparently!?
Something about the pond on number 12?

Door Prize of a one hour lesson at Eaglepoint
- Jim McCormack - like deuce pot winners need lessons?

Winners of Entrees at Eaglepoint Restaurant - Ken N and Mark Nadler.

Bruce Betker snagged a $25 gift certificate from the Pro Shop - thanks Brent!

Two luckbags named Puhach and Hay snagged 18 holes of golf at Rivershore!

Rumour has it the decision is that door prizes will not be awarded to slow players
 -  if you lose touch with the group in front you don't win baby!

(That isn't correct? Dang - seems like a good idea to me!)

9:00 AM start next Wednesday May 8
and then we start her up at
 8:30 AM on May 15!

Alright now down to the Nitty Gritty and here are our First Gross Winners - and they are gross!

Norm, Jack, Rosella, and Ken   You figure out where Rosella is in this group shot!

Second Low gross was the fine? foursome of Barry, Vic and Dwight
- the mystery bus driver was long gone!

The following is a better shot of this group when they are under supervision!
 Pretty in pink boys!

Third Low Gross was Shirley, Dave, Mark and Jack -

The boys apparently thought she needed a good Idea!?

Shirley was not amused!

Fourth Low Gross was this sort of poofy group of John, Bruce,
 Ludwig darling!, and Don.

They played very gently today as you can tell from Louie's poise and demeanor!

 Nice toe points boys!

Now the scrub groups who relied on incredibly high handicaps
to steal prizes were the following Low Net Groups!

First Low Net was Lorraine, Paul, Rick and Anita.
They submitted their youth shots to show they were legitimate high handicappers
 - nice beehives ladies!

Hard to believe they showed up in public?!

Now the Second Low Net Group was Laurel, Marilyn, Rick
and Old monkey wrench  - bird house builder Ingram!

Laurel and Marilyn at least came by their golfing prowess honourably and sent in a shot to prove it!

Nice gams ladies!

Third Low Net team had these three on it! Their fourth apparently was Par!

 Ron, Dave and Sharon
- Sharon sent in this pose to show she had the right stuff
and Bacon said he had the answer!
See below!

Nice Pose Sharon!

Dave always has the answer apparently!

Fourth Low Net was this fine group!

Marsha, The fish killer extraordinaire, Ley, and Ken N stepped out!

Apparently Marsha and Audrey said the day was a blast!

There were other people on the course
- they either were unlucky in their rolling or they just whiffed the ball all day?

Here in no particular order of merit cause in these groups there is none were the following:

Ed, their 5th was bashful but stepped up to the plate when called on!,
Ken and Gene and Angus!

As you can see they sort of putzed around the course today!
Nice headband Angus!

Linc, Arlene and Barry won the token of the week and Arlene really needed to suck it up at the end!

See what I mean!

Charley, Bev, Jim and Steve were also out on the course - apparently Walton found it heavy going!

 Nice face plant Steve!

Finally golfing with his eyes wide open but not helping his group win was Doug along with Ed and the two put upon gals were Myrtle and Heather (Bird is the word baby!)

Myrtle and Heather said carrying these guys was like competing in this race!

Nice track suits ladies!

Also on the course in three carts and a pull your own - no one would offer Jorgen a lift - I know why! was this inept group of Marc, Jorgen, Rob and Dumont

Dumont always gets distracted on the course - here he thought he was bringing in the big one!

Pat Faisthuber had to try and corral this group of Flavio, Gerry and Paul.

Apparently it was a little too much for her!

 Better luck next week Pat!

We had three fine young ladies serving us today and the management wanted to point out that if you see them in the lake at number 16 on a hot summer's day would you please avert your eyes!

Maria, Kristen and Paige were our servers! And as you can see if you see them in the water on number 15 don't be taken in by any blandishments they may toss your way!

Thanks Gals!
Your fine spirits keep our flags flying too!

April 24 Two Low Net Results.

Great crowd out today!
Please do try to be registered by 8:45 AM
so the organizers can gather their breath
and get the teams out to the links!

We played 2 Low Net Scores today
and due to the volume of winners
and ineptness of this reporter not all results are guaranteed to be accurate!

A major attempt was made to remind and encourage us to "speed up play"!

A video was shown and comments were made to the effect that being ready to play and encouraging your group to keep pace with the group in front is important!

Ready golf is simple.

Be thinking about what club you are likely going to hit before you actually stand over your ball. As you are walking or driving towards your ball guess at the distance to the pin and evaluate the lie so that when you arrive at the ball you have at least narrowed down the club you are going to hit to one or two at the most.

Watch other golfers in your foursome from where your going to hit your next shot rather than standing next to them for every shot and then proceeding to your ball.

When on the green look at your putt while others are making theirs. The first person to finish reading their putt should go ahead while the others in the group evaluate their putts - regardless of who's farthest away.

If you putt and miss your first putt by a couple of feet don't mark your ball, pick it up, clean the ball and then wait for someone else to putt. The proper etiquette to follow when playing ready golf is to politely tell the balance of the group that you are going to hole out and then proceed to do so. Likely you already know the line as a result of your first putt.Your group will always finish the hole faster using this strategy rather than waiting for your turn using the 'farthest from the hole' rule.

Most golfers' number one complaint is people who stand around on or around the green after they hole out making them wait to hit their shots. Mark your score on the next tee! Once your group has finished, quickly put the pin back in the hole and make your way to the next tee- preferably off the back of the green. Don't mark the scorecard and certainly don't 'try that putt one more time' or you might end up with an approach shot in your ear.

Encourage everyone to  move it!

First Place this week went to the fine? group of Dave Hay,Dwight Oatway, Frank Bava and Don  Puhach. Dave isn't in the picture cause he was too busy organizing for us! Thanks Dave, Ley and Larry!

Is it true that an organizer wins every week?

Second place was hung on to by Marc Guertin, Eugene Mehr, Paul Hindle and Peter Frew.

They were tied by Jorgen Sveistrup, Mark Nadler, Shirley Wiklund and Steve Walton.

Amazing what a little bit of luck does for people!

In Fourth place was the group of Dave Assmus, Sylvia Gobbi, Ken Robertson and John Dumont.

Dumont of course proved he could hit the big ones and putt like a demon but could he chip? Humm!

In Fifth spot was Charles Molloy and his gang

As you can see Norm had to lean heavily on Pat and I am sorry I didn't get the other ladies name who managed to steer these two inept gentleman into some winning money!

These two groups tied for 7th spot.

Tave Dandy, Ken Rollier, Ed Blundell and Myrtle Cadogan.

Vic, Fred and Jim McCormack. Their partner in crime took the fifth!

Weldon Steele Results from play against Spallumacheen - Away we got a 1/2 point - hey we got something - what's that you say they got 5 and 1/2 points! We played the home game against them last Thursday so we'll find out on May 1st the outcome of that play!

Remember you don't need a low handicap to play - it's a match play situation and a lot of fun - see Ley McMillan to throw your hat in the ring!

Deuces this week were numerous - the lucky ducks were Jim McCormack, Ken N, Dwight Oatway, Linc Cadogan, Tave Dandy and Dave Assmus.

Door Prize Draws were:

Chinook Cove Pass - Audrey Faulkner

Eaglepoint Entree - Myrtle Cadogan

Chinook Cove - Audrey Nielsen

$15 Eaglepoint Gift Certificate - Mark Nadler

Senior Token of the week went to he who can hit long and putt well but needs to learn to chip - John Dumont!

Other Groups on the course were:

Les Ekstrom being held up by the stern arm of the law Myles Hanke and Marsha Blundell along with Del Macready and the ladies naturally lead the men around the course!

Paul Sharp, Wayne Ferguson and Don Ingram at least had the courage to show up in the clubhouse - their fourth was off driving bus apparently or too embarassed to show his face - Larry Sill.

Flavio Facchin, Arlene Sahlstrom, Bev McIntosh and ? sorry I didn't get this ladies name - also perambulated around the course today.

You sure can tell a Dane (you just can't bloody tell him much!) Nielsen along with Jack Angstad again - where is the Vermin Control Officer when you need them? and Audrey Nielsen managed to put up with this group today!

As you can see if some guys could keep their eyes open they might have golfed better - Routledge! and Smiling Jack Mathews along with Phil Walls and Gerry Campbell made up this sort of aimless group this week!

See you all on Wednesday by 8:45 AM - sorry I missed getting some of the group's pictures this week - it was busy and I was slow!

Seniors' Golf April 10, 2013 Texas Scramble

Thirty out and at least 29 paid!

What a great group of golfers!

Crazy or what!?

But as you can see our tips were up throughout the day's play
 - thanks to Tave or was it Heather? that showed us the right stuff?

Serving out the food and drink and wondering where the Polish workers in the kitchen were?

Mike Prins, Len Aalten, Maria Winsor-McKay, Michele Meyers and
old what's his face? (U know who you are big guy!)

This guy really got around today and I actually caught him working in the pro shop as well!
Young Jin Baik ( he at least is a real Polish worker!)  was showing him (Brett Martin) how to open and close the till drawer!

Thanks to Ian Eggleton for hiring this group!
Keep up the good work Ian we are sort of behind you
but don't change our day please! He HE HE

Now for the real losers who turned out on the course today!

Larry Sill was here but he of course slunk off the course to drive his dang bus when he learned he wasn't in the big money again!

This fine group of no hopers, dead enders and losers managed to take home nothing positive today but cold hands, wet feet and a warm feeling that seniors get in their pants when they play out in the cold too long!

As you can see, Dave (Sweet swing!) and Gerry Campbell and Peter Frew (He`s from Revelstoke so be gentle on him! they said - too late!)
 didn't win a thing today!
I hope I got that right!
( If I didn't don't tell Larry how much he won cause he can't read nor write
that's why he drives school bus!)

Nice diving and belly flopping guys!

Winning a natural deuce today cause it's our first round of serial golf and we wanted to be nice to the ladies was Tave Dandy - somehow she put it over the lake, off the guard rail through the sprinkler head and onto the green about 6 inches away and even she can't bloody miss that putt!

Was she happy? You be the judge!

Looks like it to me! However judging from a perfectly normal form view
- she didn't keep her tips up on this shot!

Managing to pull his own dang name out of the hat to win the Entree here at the restaurant was Jack Mathews
- somehow he had a sort of fox eating poop smile to go with it!

You see what I mean!

Token of the week went to newcomer Marsha Blundell cause of the load she has to bear up with at home!

She was happy too!
Hey if you had the load she has to carry wouldn't you be happy too?

Now on a lighter point we had a number of teams that managed to stumble around the course and occasionally surprise themselves by making mistakes and having golf balls do things they are totally unaccustomed to! Like fall in the bloody cup once in a while!

Tied for 6th place were these two lousy teams inept as they were and are!

Ken McCormack, Tave Dandy, Heather Heron and Mr. Cool.

Tied with them but much lower in our hearts valueness acuity scale was the team of Dave (slacker extraordinaire and bike wrecker) Hay,  hem, hem, bloody hem - Captain Mad Dog Jakel, and Corporal Ley McMillan and what did I tell you about that fox eating poop smiling Jack Mathews!? This picture tells a thousand stories!

I mean this is how these two teams played all day and they still won? Got to love Seniors' golf!

Now we get to move up on the skills and quality selection groups - though not too much!

In 4th place and surprising themselves as well was this fine team of misfits and miscreants!
The old Herring Choker was in action - Angus Gouthro along with newcomer and wet pants senior Ed Blundell along with Dave ( I took a day off work at my heavenly indoor job to come out here - I need to see a psychiatrist not another optometrist!) Hampton!
Apparently at one point Angus decided to tighten up the way they played! Now that's a team captain for ya!

In Third spot and definitely reaching near the peak of golf perfection? was this charming group?!

Doug Routledge, Bev McIntosh, Lincoln Cadogan and Jack (WTF how did he get in there?) Angstad.

Here I thought our club had some taste but Angstad managed to squiggle or swindle his way back on to the pitch - doesn't the club have a vermin removal officer - no? - well it should have!

As you can see Routledge, Lincoln and Bev had a tough day keeping Angstad on the course and in decent form - though actually Jack that's a heckuva good heel click!

Now of course we move into the upper echelons of pure sports athleticism and fantasy. ( Is that the right word? Huh? Oh it is -  thanks Rick!)

In ( ta da drum roll please!) 2nd place was the fabulous and almost always awesome group of:
Ken ( sorry guys my eyes get over flashed whenever I go out clubbing! You understand doncha!) Rollier,
Audrey ( I climbed every dang temple and mountain in Japan in two weeks! It was wonderful!), Ken Robertson and Terry (Hit the ball long always, hit the ball straight - can you define straight please!) Noftall

Pictures do tell a story don`t they!

However don`t let Audrey pour the coffee when she comes in second!

Now for a real luckbag ( Oh they won and we shouldn`t detract from their awesomenessism He He He) the following group for no apparent reason and because they sort of add up like a good waitress - one for me two for the boss and one more for me then with a tip the bill comes to 3 dollars) this team managed through awesome scorecard dexterity beat out the really superior group that came in second.

Laurel Gouthro, Marsha Blundell, Rick Baker and Eugene ( Hey if I realized that he was this big I would have been nicer to him! Gee in advance I am really really sorry Eugene! He He HE Not!)
Oh well every picture tells a good story!
As you can see Eugene let Rick carry the flag for him!

Laurel and Marsha simply admired!
Nice admiring Laurel and Marsha!

Now on a much more solemn note we bring the following notices to your attention.

The results of the Seniors` questionnaire are in and it appears that the major issue is one of occasional irregular and possibly someone once somewhere in our group played - slowly or tardily or like a dead horse!

So the management requests - please  speed up play - have your equipment ready like the above ladies and  save most of your dang practice swings for the driving range and do the
old Mo Norman routine - ``Grip it and bloody rip it baby!``

If players behind request it then back up and let them play through even on Seniors` Day!

Ley McMillan will be captaining the Weldon Steele inter club play this year and the first game against another club is in a week! Spallumacheen!
We get to play Revelstoke, Shuswap, Royal York, Salmon Arm, Rivershore, Logan Lake(Meadow Creek) and Kamloops this year.
This is open to the Senior Men who are club members here and all players no matter what your handicap please sign up and play a home and home series against one of the other clubs - our teams here pay for the lunches and green fees (about $25 for green fees at all of the clubs or less)  and they pay for us at their club - we pony up car expenses for the driver and vehicle and we have a dang good time - See you on the course!

If you are deeply offended by any of my erstwhile comments then please tell me about it!
If you feel a mistake has been made then it has and I almost feel the sorrow in my heart!
CU on the course!
