24 golfers out - Lee May was representing the ladies! We need more out so shout and get your wife or girl friend out but not on the same day dummy!

It was a 1-2-3 low net format and 2 teams tied for first place! Congratulations to Dave and Lee May, Charlie Molloy, and ?Matthis - sorry don't have your first name! The picture I took was too blurry!
Tied with them was Al Jakel, Larry Sill, Bart Bye and Don Puhach.

Murphy's Rules of Golf

  • Whenever you think your drive will go right it wouldn't

  • Whenever you think your aim is right is not

  • Whenever you think you might finish a 9 holes play with one ball it wouldn't

  • Whenever you think you have a clear drive over water it will ditch

  • Whenever you think you might par you bogey

  • Whenever you think you hit the green you wouldn't

  • Rain on a golf course is Gods way of telling you that you're playing too slow.

  • Only good golf shots are ever spoiled by the most unlikely of events.

July 10 update for Weldon Steel!

A Weldon Steel update from Salmon Arm match.
The Team of Ley (Has anyone seen my Yellow Tee?) McMillan, Don (Pooch) Puhach, Don( Albatross!) Ozubko and Larry ( Hey it was pure skill!) Sill returned to Salmon Arm Golf and Country Club on July 9/09 for game #2 in the Weldon Steel Match play.
The Salmon Arm Team of Mike Combs, Bill Smith, Bob Kelsey and Russ Popham were excellent hosts prior to and after the match.
However, the play on the course was a hard fought battle with both team fighting for the points available. In the end it was an even 3 points a side.
So overall the match ended with Eagle Point 8 points and Salmon Arm 4 points.
Great fun and great camaraderie.
Regards.......... Larry
Larry also enclosed Don Ozubko's retirement ride!

Dave Hay is heard from just as senility overtakes him!

As you probably know, EX Eagle Pointer Ludwig van Faisthubershlitchder won the Chinook Cove Seniors on June 24.

Ludwig took my place at the Okanagan Golf Club 2 man tournament with Whitey(Brian Whitehead). Good thing he went instead of me..........they won their flight!
This is a 2 day 2 man team event (record lowest score on each hole), played at two tough but great courses...The Quail and The Bear.

Dave Hay claims that his hand is getting better and that he will return to golfing before he gets as senile as I am! Thanks Dave for your keen sense of ? Hope to see you on the links before I see you under them!

Bart Bye celebrates his Token of the Week! July 8

Bart was sure excited about winning the token of a week! He partied after the round and everyone thought he looked great!

Seniors get lucky! But you have to wait a week!

Bruce and the gang at the Pro Shop are coming to support us poor old Seniors!

Starting next week , July 15, the pro shop will be offering two long drives on numbers 3 and 17 as well as two KP's on numbers 4 and 12 - Larry and Al and the brain trust will figure out week by week who and which group qualifies for these offerings.

So the next time you see Bruce, Cec and the girls behind the Pro Shop counter give them a big thank you!

On the lighter side of tough economic times

A great takeoff of two British comics explaining the subprime mortgage problem!
Press on the title of this and sit back to enjoy the lighter side of tough economic issues!
Rumour has it that Don Puhach understood everything in it
and went out and bought some
"black man in a string vest on his porch"
Debentures!?

Weldon Steel Results from July 2 Salmon Arm at Eaglepoint

On Thursday July 2/08, the Eagle Point Team of Don (Albatross!) Ozubko, Don (Let's play that one easy!) Puhach, Ley (Love that yellow tee!) McMillan and Larry (Boomer!) Sill took 5 points of a possible 6 points from the first match of visiting seniors from Salmon Arm.
Representing Salmon Arm were; Mike Combs, Bill Smith, Bob Kelsey and Russ Popham. The Salmon Arm boys found our greens to be fast and tricky with lots of breaks and the speed really had them guessing.
Both teams are looking forward to the rematch back in Salmon Arm on Thursday, July 9/09.

No Seniors Golf till July 8!

No organized golf for seniors till July 8!

Weldon-Steel Update June 27, 2009

The Eagle Point Team of Bart (Whiffer!) Bye, Al (Just Give Me the Money, Honey!) Jakel, Rick (Did you see where it went?) Baker and Larry (Felt good on that one!) Sill traveled to Royal York (Armstrong) last Thursday for the second match of Weldon Steel competition.
As a team they managed to take 1 1/2 points out of a possible 6 points. The Royal York boys played very well and were tremendous hosts for the day.
What a great course and even though it is a 9 hole layout it is a true challenge. Two challenging Par 3's, One Par 5 that require 3 good shots to get to the green and the Par 4's are short at 296 yds. to long at 428 yds. The greens are very challenging, lots of rolls, hills and hidden breaks.
All in all it was great day.
Thanks for the update Larry - but no holes-in-one? No golfing here in Iqaluit!

Hole in One during Weldon-Steel Play at Eaglepoint

Larry Sill reports from Eaglepoint!

Hello Ken:
We played Royal York (Armstrong) in the Weldon Steel today at Eagle Point.
Attached is a picture from the 12th Green where Don Johnston got an Ace (it was playing right on 173 yds). The others in the foursome were Don Cominetti, Bart Bye and myself.
Thought this would be good to post to the Eagle Point Seniors page. I forwarded the web link to Lindsay Thachuk at Royal York, so expect more web traffic.
As a side note: Eagle Point took all 6 points. But the real win was enjoying the sportsmanship between the teams.
Regards............ Larry

Weldon-Steel Results against Rivershore

Don Ozubko, Rob Egan, Don Puhach and Ken Robertson managed to eke out a 6 1/2 to 5 1/2 point victory over Rivershore. The picture represents Ozubko bringing it home and says it all! Rob and Don (Albatross!) Ozubko took on Fred Kirwin and Lloyd Radford while Don Puhach and Ken Robertson took on Paul Kennedy and Greg Hyde - lucky for us they had a couple of off days and Don Puhach managed to sink them whenever the going got rough! Greg and Paul were happy at the start and let their picture get taken just before teeing off on hole one!

June 10 Seniors Lunch Pictures!

From Phil's Phun on the web

At dawn the telephone rings. "Hello, Senor Rod? This is Ernesto the caretaker at your country house."
"Ah yes, Ernesto. What can I do for you? Is there a problem?"
"Um, I am just calling to tell you, Senor Rod, that your parrot died."
"My parrot? Dead? The one that won the International competition?"
"Si, Senor, that's the one."
"Damn! I spent a small fortune on that bird. What did he die from?"
"From eating rotten meat, Senor Rod."
"Rotten meat? Who the hell fed him rotten meat?"
"Nobody, Senor. He ate the meat of the dead horse."
"Dead horse? What dead horse?"
"The thoroughbred, Senor Rod."
"My prize thoroughbred is dead?
"Si Senor Rod, he died from all that work pulling the water cart."
"Are you insane? What water cart?"
"The one we used to put out the fire, Senor"
"Good Lord! What fire are you talking about, man?"
"The one at your house, Senor! A candle fell and the curtains caught on fire."
"What the hell?? Are you saying that my mansion is destroyed because of a candle!!??"
"For the funeral, Senor Rod."
"WHAT BLOODY FUNERAL!!??"
"Your wife's, Senor Rod...She showed up one night out of the blue and I thought she was a thief, so I hit her with your new Tiger Woods Nike Driver."
LONG SILENCE...................
"Ernesto, if you broke that driver, you're in big trouble!"

June 3, 2009 Results from Seniors Play

We had 25 people out with Audrey Faulkner the lone female! More next week! The winning team was Fred Persello, Arnie Daniels, Brian Canfield and John (Slicer!) French. They won big money!

Second team was Dave May, Jim Simoneau and Jurgen Sveistrup. They won almost as much money!

Third Team was Ken (Eagle on #13!) Robertson (he won the token of the week award!), Ley MacMillan and Larry (Snakes beware!) Sill. They won a little bit of money!

Fourth Team was John Campbell, Rob Egan and Ron Watson - they won money but since Watson had left they didn't want anyone to know!

Next week will be regular golf and we will be doing an occasional "draw your tee position from the hat" option to mix things around!

June 3, 2009 Results of Team play mixed up Texas Scramble

We drew lots to find out which tee we started from today and with 25 out (Audrey Faulkner was our lone gal out today!) we had 3 threesomes who had to alternate hitting the 4th ball all day!

First Team was: John (Pardon my!) French, Brian (I really didn't hit the ball that far did I?) Canfield, Fred (Persimmon!) Persello and Arnie (Which way did it go?) Canfield!
They won big money! Aren't they pretty in the photo? Left to right! Fred, Arnie, Brian and John!

Second Team was Dave (Aren't I Pretty?) May, Jim (Come on baby just a little bit longer!)Simoneau and Jorgen (Don't hit me on the nose again!) Sveistrup!

They won some money too but not as much as the big guys!

Third Team was Ken (Eagle on number 13!) Robertson, Ley (Pretty dang far!) MacMillan, and Larry (Snakes be warned!) Sill.

Fourth Team was Rob (Hey don't get in the way of my convertible!) Egan, Ron(I think I will take up a tort on that one!) Watson and (Big Bad) John Campbell!
They were given money for no apparent reason but they happily accepted it!

New Golf Manager at Eaglepoint in Kamloops!

Meet Doug Lecuyer - fresh out of Hinton, Alberta - married to Karen and has two great kids, Renee (with an accent!) and Jake.
Doug spent 15 years in Hinton - his favorite golf club is a 6 iron - and his greatest golf course he has played on was Pebble Beach!

His immediate goal is to make the course into top shape!
Ian Eggleton the head greenskeeper
and he are working to have the greens aerated on Monday! Some closures may occur! Then they will aerate, top dress, vertical cut and roll the greens and hopefully by the end of June our greens will be back in great shape!
Thanks and welcome Doug and family!

Jeff Wills and Kareem are no longer associated with the club!
